What police in India have registered as crimes against women since 2015, and what those figures can and cannot show.

Categories are NCRB heads, so shares add up to less than 100% (small heads such as murder with rape are left out). POCSO girl victims are counted separately from IPC/BNS rape from 2017.

Every state and union territory gets one equal tile, so small places are as visible as large ones.
Tile positions roughly follow the map of India; every state has the same size. Grey tiles have no data for that year.
Modelled estimates of partner violence from the UN SDG database, for 163 countries. They answer a different question from police records, so they sit on their own tab.
Regional figures are the UN's own aggregates, not averages of the countries listed above.
Outside India, the Find A Helpline directory lists services in more than 175 countries. For India see the Get help tab.

This is a personal portfolio project by Aindrila Das. It builds on an earlier women and child safety app idea and explores what public crime statistics can and cannot say. It is not an official product and is not affiliated with NCRB, the Government of India or any employer.
Rates are cases registered per 100,000 women, using mid-year projected female population. The latest edition, Crime in India 2024 (released 6 May 2026), is the newest official release; there is no 2025 edition yet. Case counts for 2022, 2023 and 2024 were checked against NCRB's own Table 3A.1 and match for every state and UT. Earlier years come from a public compilation of the NCRB tables and reconcile exactly between state and national totals.
